So i just got back in town after my big Thanksgiving trip and am just eating some dinner and settling down. I got the actual stats for Mt. Graham: Starting eleveation was 3000 feet and finishing elevation was about 10,700. I passed through 7 different climate zones on the way to the top from Arizona Desert, to Alpine forest, to butt ass freezing. Did the climb in about 2.25 hours not including the 20 minutes i spent just getting there. The descent was just at an hour and i only almost died once when i hit a yellow line layed into a corner and my front tire slid out. Thankfully i was on the cross bike and by some miracle one of the side nobs grabbed and i stayed up. The cross bike gets a little scary at about 35 miles per hour, and just can't lay down as hard into corners because the bottom bracket is about a half inch higher than on the road machine. In adddition, at 35 miles an hour the front end gets so twitchy that some minor speed wobbles develop, probably just because the front end is higher. All-in-all it is still a great riding machine and is not so scary that i couldn't ride it, the geometry is just not meant for that type of long-term speed.

After the climb, i didn't ride again the rest of the weekend. On top of that i ate way too much food and gained a couple pounds. The off time did my brain good and i am ready to drop that weight in a couple days and hammer out some workouts.

That is it for now.

Sounds like a good climb. Where in Arizona is this?
